Ecology maintains a map of Washington’s Air Quality Monitoring Network as part of their Overburdened Communities Highly Impacted by Air Pollution initiative work.

Investment Announcements
These investments are not yet on the map, but are forthcoming!
- The Department of Health has funded two new capacity grant programs, including $750,000 for the Climate and Health Adaptation Initiative (CHAI) Community Capacity Grant Program and, $13.3M for Healthy Environment for All (HEAL) Capacity Grant.
- Washington DOT has awarded more tha $26M for 11 new Port Electrification Grants.
- Commerce Salmon Recovery: Five projects will receive $1.2 million from state Climate Commitment Act and EPA funds to advance local salmon recovery efforts.
- Washington Families Clean Energy Credits, providing $200 electricity bill credits through electric utilities for up to 675,000 households.
- Salmon Recovery and Puget Sound Acquisition and Restoration including separate tracks for a new Riparian Grant Program and the Targeted Investments Grant Round Request for Proposals (Applications due June 24, Grants awarded late September)
- Coming in July, Round 3 General solicitation for clean energy projects: “Approximately $34 million is available to support planning, design and construction of clean energy projects through a general round which is open to eligible project types and applicants for all funding areas.” Applications closed June 14th.
- Washington Coast Restoration and Resiliency Initiative. Final Applications were due by early June, grants awarded July 2025 through state’s Capital Budget. Final Applications can be viewed in this PDF File.
- Applications submitted in early May. Brian Abbott Fish Barrier Removal Board. List sent to legislature in August, final awards July 2025 for 2025-27 Biennium Budget.
- Preliminary Investment plan in Fall 2024, funding grants available July 2025 (2025-27 Biennium). Estuary and Salmon Restoration Program. Final applications submitted for sub-programs in May and June.
- Riparian Grant Program: Round of Applications closed June 21st.
- Salmon Recovery Planning Grants (Commerce). “Grants are available to cities and counties, fully and partially planned under the Growth Management Act and federally recognized tribes. We encourage applications that seek to protect and restore salmon habitat with long-range planning objectives.” Out of $3.2M, $1M is for communities in the Puget Sound region.
Applications Open
- Washington Agricultural Support Program through the department of Licensing for rebates to agricultural fuel users who may have been incorrectly charged for fuels exempted under the Climate Commitment Act. Applications will be open for submission here starting in late August.
- Apply here for Washington Families Clean Energy Credits from your electric utility which will provide $200 electricity bill credits through electric utilities for up to 675,000 households.
- Landfill Methane Emission Grants for owners and operators of municipal solid waste landfills to support projects that are necessary and directly related to meeting or exceeding the compliance requirements in Chapter 173‑408 WAC. The application period is August 6, 2024 – October 1, 2024 with total $9.6 million of total funding available.
- Air Quality in Overburdened Community Grants from the Department of Ecology available for organizations serving communities overburdened and highly impacted by criteria air pollution (such as Local municipalities, Community-based organizations, and Tribes participating in our initiative to improve air quality in overburdened communities) in order to conduct community engagement, and identify and develop projects to reduce criteria air pollution. Applications will be open from August 29, 2024 – October 24, 2024 with $10M total in available funding with up to $700,000 per project.
- Washington State Clean Diesel Program: Ecology’s Zero Emission School Bus Grant Program 2023-2025: Applications open May 15 – August 15.
- Landfill Methane Emissions Reduction Grant Program. Applications period is open through October 1st.
- Sustainable Farms & Fields: Climate-Smart Livestock: A second round of funding is now open for applied research and demonstration projects that will result in increased adoption of climate-smart livestock management practices and/or improved accounting of the impacts of climate-smart livestock management practices in agricultural settings in Washington.
- Family Forest Fish Passage Program. Applications for 2025 funding due by end of year.
- Community Forests Program. Board approves ranked list in late October.
Comments Open
- Seeking public input: Draft EV policy and funding proposals (August 6-16 2024: Public comment period open).
- Air Quality Community Grant Program is preparing a summary of your input and how we’ve incorporated it into the program design, which will be provided alongside the grant program guidelines in August. Applicants will need to have a Secure Access Washington account and have an account in Ecology’s Administration of Grants & Loans (EAGL) platform. Directions on how to create an account are located on the grants and loans website.
- Cap-and-Invest linkage rulemaking: public meeting on July 10 and comment period: Ecology is holding public meetings starting on July 10, 2024 to share information and gather input on the Cap-and-Invest linkage rulemaking. WRITTEN FEEDBACK open through September 27, 2024.
- Electricity Markets Rule: “The purpose of these updates is to help determine which electricity importers from centralized electricity markets should be covered under the Cap-and-Invest program.” Comments open through August 20th. Final rule adoption anticipated December 3.
